Dylanesque:

Its amazing how much i like Bob Dylan when its not Bob Dylan singing.

Apart from later Bob Dylan which is more tolerable as his voice isnt so grating on the old shell like.

I have this Bryan Ferry album and its very good - its a pity about Bob because in my opinion a lot of his songs do sound so much better when other people sing them. Other examples include, the Rolling Stones version of "Like a Rolling Stone", "Mr Tamborine Man" by the Byrds and "All along the Watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix. The only exception is "Positively 4th Street". I think that only Bob could interpret this bitter and derisive yet billiant song.

  2. Yep.

I almost think of this as a Roxy Music album instead.

The version of positivly 4th street on this album didnt quite work in the same way that Bob Dylans version does for the reasons that you point out.

Otherwise its good but it shouldnt have been an accoustic version.

I think you either like his voice or you dont.I dont choose to listen to bob Dylan much partly because i have heard it all before because my dad was a bit of a fan.

He is more of a fan of the words than the voice and music.

Listen to Time Out Of Mind and Oh Mercy.

Its like i cant listen to Hawkwind ever anymore as my brother was a bit of a fan [understatement of the year] as you may remember. Its all ingrained into my psyche permanently. That was all started because my mum bought him Hawkwinds first album from a jumble sale.
